-Bullseye Competition-
At the Taylor Pistol Club, we have 3 teams participating in the SouthEast Michigan Pistol Association (SEMPA). Each team takes turns traveling between home and other SEMPA members ranges. There are .22 and centerfire leagues.
Bullseye competition stresses accuracy. Each shooter in an indoor match shoots 2 courses of 'National Match Course'. Each National Match Course consists of 10 slow fire shots (10 rounds in 10 minutes), 10 timed fire shots (5 rounds in 20 seconds, reload, and another 5 rounds in 20 seconds), and finally 10 rapid fire shots (5 rounds in 10 seconds, reload, another 5 rounds in 10 seconds). This makes 30 rounds total per National Match Course and 60 rounds per match.
Typically shot at 50 feet, the targets face 90 degrees from the shooter and then turn to face tge shooter for the prescribed length of time.
Outdoor matches are similar, but are shot at 50 yards for slow fire and at 25 yards for the timed and rapid fire strings.
Variations exist, some indoor and outdoor matchs will have 90 shots total instead of 60. Many outdoor matchs will have 90 shots with .22 cal, 90 shots of 'any center fire' (.32, .45, 9mm, .38 etc.) and finally 90 rounds of .45 cal. Taking most of the day, a '2700' (270 shots with possible 10 pts each) usually includes a lunch break
